Yes, this is the tourney grove, where you get no xp, drops or anything when you die. But I tested it out today after having a brainfart and ran off in a fight with a K.Kilrog, saw popup for 500 xp loss. Went back in, another fight with K.Kilrog, ran, same loss. Not sure if intentional, since normally you'd just give your all.
