I have 2 189's with the exact same gear and enchantments, one was registering 13 st and 26 dex, one was registering 15 st and 27 dex I had to unequip every item and re-equip it get the st/dex to match that of my other 189. With right clicking no longer equiping/unequiping this is a fairly tedious task, not sure what causes it but has happened on 2 separate instances, might be tied into server restarts as both times have been after the last 2 updates.
Did you chant the items while they were wearing them? If so, you do have to unequip and re-equip, then it will show right. It is possible updates did something, too.
No I always enchant items while they are on the floor, previous to the updates the numbers were accurate, the updates happened, servers restarted and 1 wasn't registering the correct enchantment allocation. It is very possible, that is why I am reporting it, potentially having to unequip and re-equip every item you are wearing after every update would be a problem. I am also not the only person who has had this issue as I have helped about 4 other people via chat and people I group with regularly with this issue.
Did the other people you talked to also chant the gear on the floor and not in inventory? I'm asking because inventory is saved differently from rooms when there are updates. What it sounds like is when the room is refreshed after the update, something with the gear isn't resetting right. It would be a coding issue.
The people I helped in chat I can't speak for, the people I hunt with we pretty much all chant on the floor of someones house, many of their items I have with one of my 189s.
Bump this post if no one official sees it in a few days. What I would suggest as a workaround is first, try not to chant within the hour of them about to update. If you do, take the chanted item and either put it in a chest or inventory, log off and then log back on in about a minute or so. Each time you log off, it saves the chest and inventory. So, that should do it. The issue would probably be more that the room save is different. This is why, in the earlier years, we were always told never to leave anything on the floor that you wanted to keep. When there are updates, anything on the floor has a different save code. So there must be some glitch that's still in there.

Going to parrot back as my attention span is not so hot when reading alot of text:
Negative. I only mentioned the chanting on floor in response to Carrigon. What has happened is that I have the exact same items on both of my 189's, same quantity of st and dex enchantments as well, after the last 2 updates 1 of my 189's was registering 2 points of str and 1 point of dex lower then the other, the only way I have seen to fix this is by un-equipping every single item and re-equiping them. After doing so their st and dex stats were identical again.
@Redbeard What he's saying is, if he chants something on the floor prior to an update, after the update, the stats on the item are somehow being messed up. If he equips, they don't show right, but when he takes it off and puts it back on, then it goes to the right stats. Something with when the floor updates, it's not refreshing the item stats right. This may be a very old bug in the code. There were issues many years back with floor items and updates.
No i'm not Carrigon, I can't say it is tied into the floor chanting you are saying that, and making assumptions.
