Game crashes when recharging orbs

Anyone know why and how to fix it? Using Win 10 64 Bit, running in compabiity mode XP, SP2 and as Administrator.

LilGoofsta

Same happening to me as well, compatibility mode xp SP 3, ran as admin, Win 10 Pro 64-bit

LilGoofsta

Does anyone have any insight into this? It is kind of depressing trying to start out again and having someone give you orbs of greater healing and you not being able to actually recharge them…

Chas

I'm unable to replicate this. Which server? I just tried recharging an Orb of Holding on Despothes Grove and an Orb of Extension on FF (Beta) both successfully without issue.

Is it always OoGH? Have you tried other orbs?

I'm also on Win 10 64 bit.

LilGoofsta

I tried OoTeleportation and OoGH and both had the same result with the crash, on Despothes

Gimli

Do you have the last inventory item registry fix installed?

Gimli

Can you try removing that registry fix? I know personally when I put that in I started crashing a lot selling items from my backpack and recharging orbs.

Removing that fix also fixed all those crashes for me! In my opinion, moving the window to select the last item is better than crashing

Gimli

Also I am looking into fixing the last item bug officially, so hopefully there will be a fix that doesn't require changing your registry and introducing crashes!

DaMoof

I did not do the registry fix but have the problem when recharging orbs.

LilGoofsta

I can also confirm that even after removing the fix for the last item bug, I still cannot recharge orbs, I have the same symptoms as before.

LilGoofsta

DaMoof, Saitama on the Realm discord helped resolve this issue for me, I switched my compatibility mode to Win 7 and recharging orbs is working fine now.

DaMoof

Crashed again, changing to Win 7 compability did not help. Don't get an error message, game just closes down.

LilGoofsta

That is crazy, just to verify we are setup the same way, you have both sciw.exe and wlaunch.exe set for the win 7 compatibility with run as admin?

DaMoof

Just checked, both are set to compability for win 7. Am running as Admin.

LilGoofsta

I would set both that way, and run wlaunch.exe as admin and try that

DaMoof

Have not tried running wlaunch, I heard you need to run sciw.exe.

LilGoofsta

No it is recommended to run wlaunch.exe, the only differences so far that I see is that your running sciw.exe and you dont have wlaunch.exe set for compatibility mode as windows 7 and run as administrator checked, if you set those and launch that im curious if it will

DaMoof

Both are set to win 7 compability and run as admin. Will try to use wlaunch now, but for updates you need to run sciw.exe I thought. Recharging now works running wlaunch. Thanks for your help.

LilGoofsta

I ran wlaunch.exe with the above options set and had no issues with the patch that was looping before i set them, not saying you are wrong, just my experience.

LilGoofsta

Not a problem bud glad I could help, I know how frustrating it is!

DaMoof

Crashed again using wlaunch, with sciw it let me recharge 5 times with no crash.

LilGoofsta

So with the compatibility set on both, running wlaunch.exe crashes, but sciw.exe doesn't? That's odd. I know I use wlaunch.exe, but if using sciw.exe works for you I don't see any issues with using that
