Old client worked fine yesterday.
Installed new client today, rebooted PC as it said application ~2357 (it was a number, not application name) was in use and would update next reboot.
Client updated and patched correctly.

Client sits for ~2min then posts this fatal error.
Behavior is same with correct and incorrect passwords
Uninstall, reinstall
no applications in use during install errors
Patched no problem
server select no problem
username and password cause same NETERR
The game server moved ports. Check your firewall to see if something is blocking outgoing port 8008. Are you at work? Many workplace IT depts are heavy handed with blocking unrecognized ports.
The worst part is that "I" am the heavy-handed jackass blocking the ports…
