Registering game account gives error

I have successfully registered (and confirmed) for the website, logged in, and am now trying to create a game account. Every time I fill in a name and password, it gives me nondescript error: "We're sorry, but something went wrong." I've already tried different names and passwords, longer and shorter, with less complicated characters… no go. Is there an issue with creating new accounts at the moment, or is something else at fault here?

I am running into this issue when trying to create a new account for Fin's Fortress, many different combinations, giving me the we're sorry message
