Wiz cannot cast spells. Why not??

Why can't my wiz cast spells in combat? Flame Orb. Knife does not work as well. Also, I'm the only one in all the worlds. No other people., why?? Tried to create a new wizard, but the same thing happens to it. I cannot type anything in the help slot. I feel there is something really messed up here, Please fix this. Furthermore, I'm not happy at all with this game.
