While I think the dev team has done a wonderful job in making the various magical weapons accessible to the average player, given that these drops still rely upon RNG I feel it would be nice to have a progression to the mundane weapons available in game. Perhaps Temp Steel and under at level 1, Myth at 300, Obs at 600, Adm at 900. Make Temp Steel have adm's current stats(or even slightly better), and boost Myth, Obs and Adm to fit with the level range. This would potentially allow hitters to increase their damage output without relying upon RNG for the magical version. Obviously the magical weapons should continue to be stronger than the mundane weapons.
You might get some pushback from other older players that are hesitant to see too much change to our roots, but I think this is a solid idea. Even if you wanted to take a conservative approach and make it lvl 1, 25, 100, 200 so people will be forced to progress in those early levels might be interesting to see. However, people would then likely just 5-sec guard their hitter accounts and power level the hitter using wizzies til Myth or Adm if they don’t feel that using Temp Steel is even worth it. I’m not sure which system would work best, but these are the type of dialogues I like to see here.
The weight of the armor would hurt wizzies. Mostly, wizzies need troll and myth if they aren't wearing the new gear. I don't think myth should be restricted to level. The rest, I don't care about. But new wizzies are often stuck with myth helmets and a few other pieces till they find better gear. And their health is so low that they need a few pieces for AR.
I did hear they do have something planned for all the mundane stuff. They're supposed to be doing something with it soon, but I'm not sure what.

I had not mentioned anything about changing anything about armor, I think the adjustments they've made to the armor is already sufficient, though I think putting in a shop to buy bars again would be epic.

Cool, I had not heard this but I also am not on Discord ever, and only half pay attention to channel when in game and am rarely on during peak times.
It's not about changing the armor, it's that if you level restrict the lighter armor there are issues with that. The heavier armor also means you can carry less and make less money. Lower level toons would suffer alot.
I'm not sure what's planned for it, but I did hear they are going to do something with the mundane gear.
I'm not even sure we still need half of it in the game. The heavy and cheaper iron and steel and tempered don't seem to be used by most. They're really just shopfood. The main ones seem to be some myth, obs, adm.
I actually think this is a great idea. The damage numbers would need looking at properly to make sure it's an upgrade at least every other mundane vs the magic otherwise the lvl1 weapons will still trump them all more or less. Weapon users already struggle to level comparatively unless they have magical weapons - which when starting out there's just no way unless someone gives you one out of the kindness of their hearts. Like the level 300 weapons should be equal to or better than obs lvl 600 mundane weaponry and 600 being superior to 900 addy weaps. It would help out the newer players giving them a consistent and relatively easy to find set of guaranteed upgrades without praying to the rng gods. Naturally the procs and stats of magical weapons make them vastly superior at most points in the game but in a pinch the mundane gear should be enough to get you through.
Regarding armour pieces it's pretty redundant imo. But a great idea for weapons.
I'm in favor of anything that gets more use out of the heaps of gear already in the game. Iron is particularly underutilized. Maybe get a tiny % bonus to treasure drops if you decide to rock only Iron armor(and something comparative for wizards).
This is a great idea. Here is an example of what I'd like to see base on this @Gimli
Leather - Level 1 - SDM + 2% per piece
Troll Leather - Level 100 - SDM + 3% per piece
Temp Steel - Level 1 - MDM +2% (purchase for 2k per piece)
Iron - Level 50 - MDM + 2% (+10 AR over Temp) (purchase for 5k per piece)
Mythril- Level 200 - MDM +3% per piece (+15 AR over Temp) (purchase for 25k per piece)
Obsidian - Level 500 - MDM +4% per piece (+25 AR over Temp) (non purchase)
Admantium - Level 750 - MDM +5% per piece (+30 AR over Temp) (non purchase)
Weapons:
Weapons 10% less damage than equivalent magic variant with no magic bonuses.
For example:
If level 900 Electromancer's Fury or whatever is 85-160 (example)
Admantium 2 Handed Sword - Level 750 would be like 75-144 with no bonuses
all outperformed by set pieces or magical weapons, but huge buff to economy, gold sink and solo/new players. wouldn't break end game at all, but would add a lot of utility/flexibility to the game.
====================================
Bonus Idea: Thief Prestige Perk: "Beggar's Boon"
If you are only wearing non-magical weapons and armor you gain +75% MDM, +50% SDM, Nourishment, +3 attk, +2 Endur - might be decent for a thrower character less dmg more attacks
Leather - Level 1 - SDM + 2% per piece
Troll Leather - Level 100 - SDM + 3% per piece
Troll Leather should never be Level 100. Everything else is too heavy for low level wizards to lift or move in. This should be left unrestricted. And so should Mythrl.

@Carrigon They can use regular leather or cloth at level 1 if needed, using what I suggested those 2 options would not be that unreasonable for 100 levels troll leather over regular leather/cloth isn't that big of a difference tbh would atleast give some kind of stepping stone if done that way (which I understand isn't happening)
