Since I have already patched the client(s) I am fine but for new users it can be burdensome. Maybe ship a patched legacy client since I assume it isn't patched as regularly. For the new client, how often is the installer synced with the latest patch? Is it even possible to do what I am asking?
I don't know what the bottleneck is in the patching process but two of the patches with 1500+ steps takes some time. I have a fiber connection and I never see the process use more than 1.0 Mbps. Is this a limit you guys are enforcing on your side?
I totally agree! I had a error after the patch last night, I went to play and the "Repair" didn't work. I had to reinstall, I tried with compat mode and my first time.. DC'd on 8 of 17th patch.. I had to fully repatch. 2nd time, it finsihed, but didn't work… Now I am spending 2 hours on re-patching a second time.. Just to be sure, I had it set to compat mode. If this can happen to me, imagine new players being frustrated.
Hey Methis, I just want to be 100% sure because it wasn't obvious from this reply (but you mentioned you did in discord)… You set the compatibility mode but did you enable 'Run this program as an administrator' in the 'Settings' section on the same tab?
@RatLabs, It would be awesome if you could add a link to installation instructions to this page. https://realmserver.com/game_information/download
I honestly can't say yes or no. I did the first time for sure, but I mentioned I dc'd and had to restart the process… So the 2nd time in my infuriating moment, I could of just double clicked it.. So I am not even sure if I had ran it the 2nd time in admin mode.. I did make sure to click the setting, but I might of done it after the dc issue.. Either or I am not mad, but I really think issues like this can be avoided in the future with Client updates for anything with a patch of 1k or more.. Specially for patches that can leave you having to reinstall the game, due to a patch error.
I agree and I hope we can get some feedback on the matter :)
Apologies on this.
The installer has been updated - 0 patches required. We'll work on keeping this up to date much better now.
Sorry again -
