I don't really like to request features that'all benefit me directly as it seems biased. However, the more I continue to use discord and the forum the more I see the same 5~10 names in all the discussions and one issue we always run into is that there isn't enough variation in opinions and It's been mentioned that these same few names are having a big impact on the direction of the game design. I was just thinking of ways to get more people involved in using the forum and discord - perhaps something similar to the buggy baldy? Maybe achieving a certain level on the discord bot warrants a baldy, or very valuable feedback or something.? There must be a way to interest players in contributing to important discussions. Even the micro transaction megathread - despite having 108 responses it's probably only from a total of 10~ different people.
The only reason I mention baldy all the time is because they're an in game status symbol, games like league of legends have introduced ways of identifying players who stay cool or are good teammates etc by having different banners appear on the load screen on their name plates - overwatch has also added this system recently - a way of identifying players who are positive within their respective communities. The closest thing we can hope to achieve is probably different baldrics.
Also add a refer a friend baldy/dye/plaque - though I'm sure a referral system is being worked on so not going into that
You see that all over the net in every community. There will be a regular bunch of top posters, and everyone else usually can't be bothered. I do wish more people would participate in discussions and feedback.
While I agree with this, I am also hesitant. We do need more community participation, but a rewards system based on volume will likely just lead to players spamming the Discord and forums to obtain rewards without contributing quality input. As we’ve seen over the past couple weeks, some people will go to great lengths to cheat the system. For example, even if someone is participating in a useful discussion on Discord, they may opt to alter their typing pattern to increase throughput (perhaps posting fragments of a sentence in quick succession to complete a point or posting emojis more frequently). I’m all for coming up with ways to engage the community and incentivization is always effective. However, hopefully we can come up with something that deincentivizes the disingenuous while rewarding valuable community feedback.

Sadly, I agree with this. We don't need it turning into a chaotic spam fest. Maybe if we just had polls? People like polls and will usually vote for things.
I wonder the feasibility of adding a new tab to the in-game UI for “Development,” which could feature polls where players vote on certain directions of the game’s development. Perhaps even the data can be parsed so the devs could see noble vs citizen results. Either 1 account, 1 vote or weighted for noble paying subs as 2 votes to a 1 vote for a citizen account. This is still open to manipulation to some degree, as people are free to make a trove of citizen accounts if they feel so inclined. Furthermore, I have no idea on the level of technical challenges that implementing something like this would pose.
Even if polls were added to Discord or the forums instead of directly in-game, it will likely foster more engagement. Good idea, Carrigon.
Yeah, a rewards system based on volume is definitely not the way to go. Just wasn't sure how else to start the discussion. An in-game/discord poll system would be a good idea, but if it yields rewards people may also just vote without reading or thinking skewing game development. The positive side of discord and forum participation as opposed to polls is it gives written information to the devs as opposed to a potentially random vote for reward - as well as potentially inciting a discussion about topics. It's a difficult one to approach but it'd be worth coming up with a solid system going forward, there's a lot of important decisions the devs will need to make in the coming years and the more data we can provide the more educated their decisions can be - obviously.
I would be a fan of Upvote / Downvote on the topics and replies. It would let people know where everyone stands. It would also make it so the Lurkers could make their thoughts known.
