DoT Spells

I'd love to see some more damage over time spells in the game. As of now poison bolt/barrage is really the only one. It also is not very effective unless you cast it over and over to build up the poison. Could be great for adventurers or any melee/cast hybrid. Debuff - DoT - move to melee.

Tbh. most people just use these dots on their weapons. At least as Hitter it is just awesome, when you beat a mob with these chants.
But I totally understand you and would also like that a lot more.

Maybe just change the way it works for the cast spell compared to the chant, so that you start with a set amount of stacks already if you cast it, based on your SDM and resistance.

The venom chant on weapons is a good example. You have to hit things until maybe on the last round when they're basically dead already it has enough stack to finish them off. Now that's how it should work for the weapons but a spell dot should start high and go down or just have a damage amount that ticks for a set amount of time then stops like every other game.

Also doesn't have to be poison. Could be a lightning storm that casts lightning bolt for 3 rounds or a fire spell that has a burst of initial damage then has a burn effect that lasts for a while.

We're working on this "bleed" is a DoT that can be applied with dagger / claw

In theory, PB (lvl 6 necro) should have been the goto DoT spell. On paper it seemed very nice, however, it is not useful as of today. It has low initial dmg and the DoT effect seems to fade away after a few hits. It doesn't seem to work as intended.

Mass drain costs 1/10 the mana cost of PB, yet is far more helpful. If a wizzy is casting a spell 10 times the cost, they it should have in theory 10 times the effectiveness. At least the dmg should be 5x the initial dmg of MD with a DoT effect for the next 5 rounds similar to 5x MD (this equalizes the cost of 15mc vs. 150mc). Otherwise, what's the point?

Im sure theyre aware it needs some work.. The only reason I even use poison bolt now is to kill mobs that heal themselves, which are super annoying. Except for Fire Wasps…theyre immune. Jerks.
