New Spell Suggestions:

Familiar Mysticism Spell "Taunt" ~ Forces Target NPC to focus its attacks on you for 1-5 Rounds. (regular myst shrug / immunities ETC apply)
GM Mysticism Spell "Mass Taunt" ~ Forces All opponent NPCs to focus their attacks on you for 1-3 Rounds. (regular myst shrug / immunities ETC apply)

Make Sword/Board Tanks a thing.

Likely the response will be they are looking at adding melee abilities in the future, however if they could incorporate something like this in the mean time it would be nice, esp. if it could work off MDM %.

Actually, I would like it as a spell using SDM. My initial thought was allowing a taunt would help change group dynamics and allow for some other race/class options. RIght now it AIEW or ASGW due to min/maxing. Making the spekk utilize MDM wouldn't change that. An ASGW could toss on a shield and be the best tank and toss on a 2h weapon and be the top melee DPS.

Utilizing SDM, instead, would mean that when creating a sword/board tank you would need more End and Int than Str. This would give rise to much more character variations and give more utility to Adventurer, who could play off-tank roles. Thus when you choose to make a ASGW, you are opting to be a Melee DPS and NOT necessarily the most effective Tank. The choice has a consequence. Alternatively if you make a higher Int/End tank you are not going to be the best Melee DPS.

it's just a thought.

Totally agree with this. I would love something like this for a char like my 10/10/18/10 Human Adv. He can hit 149 SDM with full intel set, which with HoI for Adv still allows me to use an RoE and get 13 endurance. Something like adds real viability to that kind of build, as he has the Str for defense gear (can carry enough weight for plate), the Int to cast the spell, and enough endurance to take the hits.

Granted I'm biased because I'm already leveling this char, but ultimately I think adding utility type spells like this, that still use SDM, is what will really bring these type of hybrid characters into the light.

One additional note, is if it is SDM based, then a piece of this needs to be a way to prevent wizzies from casting it, then just "shift tanking" the mob who can't chase them across the screen more than once. Otherwise it just adds another tool for wizzies, who already dominate end game, to do so more.

Like for example, when you cast it, it anchors you in place to the spot you casted from, so you can only retaliate (if you're in range) but can't move.
