Throwing Dagger Prestige

All weapons have some kind of prestige skills, and I really like what it was done to hitters, it makes them a lot more fun to play and bring utility to them! I am just wondering why don't throwers get anything? I know it is a lot safer to damage from afar but some kind of prestige skill for it would be kinda nice. I feel like all others specs get something out of prestige but throwers…. Wizards have new spells, hitters have VERY cool new prestige skills, throwers get nothing.

A watered down version of bleed (perhaps 7% bleed) would make sense, or perhaps something new, like a single target hold spell to proc, or a "fan of blades" aoe damage proc. I am not very creative but I would like to see something for throwers as well.

I was thinking about this myself and have two suggestions.

  1. SPRAY ATTACK: Give throwers a spray attack where you can choose to use all your attacks for the round at once and hit everything for equal damage (not including crit damage modifier).
  2. SPLASH DAMAGE: Give throwers a 20-30 percent chance to have damage splash around the target within 5-8 combat squares that does 50% damage to the surrounding mobs near the target.

Throwers are already boss killers, but this would help them become viable farmers and would help eliminate the requirement of having 3 to 4 wizards in every party.

While I love seeing new ideas pitched and support diversity in builds, I think throwers are pretty damn strong already. Not only do their hits rarely miss, but they do some nasty damage without much risk. In addition, you can set them on 5 sec timers for auto-DPS. I’ve actually converted my throwers to daggers just to have more of a challenge and keep things interesting.

I’m not saying they don’t deserve a prestige ability, but bumping their damage is not the approach I’d take. The Spray attack idea does sound more appropriate though to add some situational utility to the build.

Wizard spells never miss and they got new spells! I don't think they need anything amazing, but something would be nice. Throwers are paying for the "expansion" also to get to 2K, would be nice if something was in it for them as well.
