I'm a new player to realm for the most part. It was actually my very first MMO and my mother and step father met on realm. But that was a lifetime ago and I remember none of it lol.
So I'm confused with the damaging spells. I mostly just want to make sure I'm correct. I've been looking up guides and things and they will say things like "Mass Drain will be your best spell here" but while I understand the added effect of the healing it does paltry damage compared to multiblade. Same seems to be true for Wrath of God & Electric Fury.
So am I correct that for raw damage output multiblade just beats all? The numbers I'm seeing it seems to do more damage than any other spell by 100+ points per mob. That's with a mage blade and 2 familiar pieces.
Am I missing something or am I playing correctly and if you don't need to freeze, heal, or any other spell effect the level 2 sorc spell wins out?
The first thing is to make sure any guides you are reading are specifically updated for this server, as it has been heavily modified from the classic version and therefore most guides from years ago aren't really correct anymore.
To your more specific question the answer is really that level matters. As you level you get a behind-the-scenes damage mod.
Multiblade is a spell that has high base damage and low scaling. So early on it will do more damage than anything else due to you being low level so having little behind-the-scenes damage scaling and needing to rely more heavily on base damage.
As you level the other spells you mention will eventually surpass Multiblade and not just by a little bit. By level 1k with gear those other spells will be doing many times the damage of Multiblade.
The commonly floated number on this is level 250 with some proficient gear is where the others start to overtake MB, but that's just a general guideline.
