OK so this might be a bit lengthy, but I have been thinking about how to keep players engaged in the game and wanting to play more.
I think that the world boss system is a great addition to the game, it keeps it exciting and people are competing for the kills. Not to mention it sparked a bit of pvp up as well. (Quick suggestion on that, could we make it so that you go /yescombat if you attack a world boss? that might make for more people willing to go /yes, and keep competition fun in getting the bosses with some pvp)
I was thinking a good way to keep people maybe more interested in their chars, and wanting to do the endless grinds that is HC/DP, you could have a multi-tiered weapon quest for your class. It's similar to an idea Final Fantasy 14 does, where once you hit max char level you start a quest with an NPC. He gives you a weapon, you upgrade it etc.
The twist on the idea is it would be more tuned for how the realm is designed, with weapon upgrades being available at level 1-300-600-900-1000, and I assume Prestige 1/2/3/4 once they are all available.
The basic premise of the idea would be, I start my char IcyHotStunna at level 1. I have a scroll in my inventory that starts the beginner quest for my weapon. It involves killing some rats, gathering up some materials, a jug of ale, a rat nug, whatever. You turn the stuff in to an NPC, get a level 1 weapon equivalent to what you would get as a magic weapon drop in a cave (Let's be honest, you are going to be lucky to get a lvl 1 weapon by the time you're ready for a level 300 weapon currently).
Upon upgrading the weapon you are told to come back to said NPC at level 300 to recieve the next part of the quest, and so on, for level 300-600-900-1000.
The level 1000 one would have to be really tough to get, like, kill 100 world bosses. Do 500 heroics type of difficulty, or else it's too easy and people will smash it in 2 days. Once you complete it tho, you get a weapon that is slightly better than what a world drop would be, maybe some bonus stats +mainstat/atk
You could easily carry this over into prestige also, and keep upgrading the weapon to it's final state say a God weapon or something, which would be level 5000.
Also so people don't risk popping something they are working so hard on, the weapon could come say, level 1 it has natural venom, level 300 it has venom/fire, 600 venom/fire/ice, 900 venom/fire/ice/electric, 1000 venom/fire/ice/electric/mainstat OR the option to go acid dmg.
Could be an interesting idea, would be easy to integrate storyline into it, and force people to explore the game a little bit above ground/dungeon's they might not normally run. Not sure if this is the right place to post it but let me know what you think!
