Etherialize

Can someone please explain the Etherialize spell for me please. I guess you use it on your items you want to sell and it gives you extra money than the shop, but is it enough to outweigh the 1k mana cost? If you can use it on your backpack, like selling your backpack at a shop, would it be best to have your strongest char learn it then use it when it is totally full, to get the best money to mana?

Zewpi

You use it on a backpack generally, however it does destroy the backpack. It's meant as a QoL spell for characters without the str to carry a full dungeon runs worth of drops, so that they can drop their weight without having to teleport out every time. Also the gold bonus makes up for not being able to use a BP with stats (unless you keep re-enchanting new ones after each BP destruction)

-so if multiboxing generally it's best on a character who can fill BP to capacity, yes. If you run all wizards though it'll be best on whichever one loots for you.

It's simple, you have two options while going through a dungeon. You can either spend 5k in gold to empty a pack, or simply teleport, sell, gather. The 5k in gold is a tax for being so lazy that you can't spend a few seconds out of your time.

Etherializa is a total waste. It's sold on the AH for ~750k gold, then it costs 5k gold each time it's used. I'm fine with the intial sale price, but the cost of use is absurd. If it were 100 mana it would be high, 1k mana is so silly it's wasteful.

Get an empty backpack, engrave it "ShopFood" put items into it and cast Etherialize on it, you receive 25% more gold for the items inside then if you just sold them to a shop keeper.

I hate people that want to share an opinion when they clearly dont know crap about what they are talking about..thats pointed at u Endal, for starters Ether only costs 500 mana to cast,so clearly u have not even used it if u dont kno that, and for u to say it is trash when youve never even used it is not only insulting but pathetic. If u dont know what your talking about, keep your opinions to yourself, nobody wants your misinformation.Or maybe you r just calling it trash so you can deter others from using it while you benefit from it.

I would agree it isnt worth buying but ive found 2. I should have taught it to my giant but I can still carry 210 stones with my wiz so it isnt bad. My largest haul has breen over 200k.

I also transfer from my bag to another so it takes a couple of minutes but its worth it.

I try and put lightweight, medium to expensive items (rings, ammys, orbs, wands, talisman, mundane clothing,) so for a bag that gives 200k it cost 2500gold but I got the extra 50k i wouldnt get in store.

Ahh, I didn't know it gives more than the shops do. In that case it's worth it. I thought it was just the spell of lazy shopfood sales. I resend all of my whining above, it's a great spell ;)

I may have been a little harsh,i dont hate u endal. perhaps had u worded it differently maybe saying "it seems like trash" or "it is prolly a waste" rather than to state it is ,..your statement would not have even bothered me. It bothers me when people claim false things based on what they dont know. Anyway good day 2 u.

I can confirm, trash spell.

TheRealmBeckonsMe

On the topic tho seein how people wanna trash the spell,i actually think its great, and its likely u r saying its trash because u dont want others to benefit the way you r. I have a hard time believing anyone who says its trash has actually used it or is being honest. It's a great spell, beneficial in many ways. Makes you more money, and saves you trips. What exactly r the downfalls..,no chanted bp,i got over that pretty quick, and having to carry multiple bp's..not a big deal. Not sure what else u have to complain on about it.

Can we get a Moderator to chime in on this one? I don't think there are any threads that say exactly how the spell works and the benefits of it, limitations that are implied, etc…

This has been discussed in discord a couple of times, but I essentially provided the details above. You have to engrave your backpack as ShopFood, when you cast Ether on it you receive the store sell price + 25%, the backpack is consumed in the process.

Essentially you just cast st/dex on yourself to make up for the lost st/dex from not having a chanted backpack as once your gear is fully chanted you only lose .5 st/dex, If you have enough in the pack to sell for 50k, +25% makes it 62.5k thus covering your mana cost plus some.

it's not as bad as i originally thought. i had a pack that would have sold for 29k, but instead etherialized for 38k, so its a profit. losing a bp every time kind of sucks though. It's too bad just casting the spell like str/dex on the backpack doesn't apply the effect like enchanting does
