so, i've mentioned a few times on discord about maps, and am literally about to start feature enhancing them; I can 100% render the maps now… but WHAT do you want them to show you ? :) … within the bounds of reasonable, I can put any kind of information on each tile (such as whats in each shop, etc…) the more involved (such as listing shop contents) the longer it will take me to develop.
Currently, I can show a dynamically rendered map; defaults to 50x50 squares (realm is approx 200x200), and only shows zones and towns. I have the capacity to show individual room names for EVERY tile, and to hotlink to dungeons….
I think showing what's sold is very helpful. People are always asking where to get stuff.
I would say start with shop locations, dungeon locations with directions if possible, maybe the days that the area/dungeon is hot…i personally would say to skip adding what is contained in each shop, this generates socialization and those are very easily sent through an MM.
If it's available I'd love to know all of the items that would drop in a dungeon. I'm trying to put that together on TheRealm.Online, but it's just me and I only do so many runs (I'm mostly trying to confirm drops)
One thing I can confirm on what's dropping where is, if any kind of an armor is listed as dropping in a cave, like say it says someone found WL Bands, you will then be able to find ALL bands in there. That cave will drop necro, thaum and elem. That goes for every cave that says it drops something. Like OC, it will drop ALL hats and WL helmets. So if you're looking for one kind, just do whatever cave says it dropped a similar item. What's up on the wiki is accurate. And I've contributed to that, too. If a cave says a certain weapon drops in it or a spellbook, it will. But, and this is the most important thing, it can drop anywhere in the cave. Running just the boss fights will not always get you what you want. It can drop from anything, even the lowest creatures. It can even drop from your very first fight in, if you're lucky. So basically, cave running really means you need to do as many fights as you can in there if you really want to find stuff. It's the fights you skip that usually will drop. That's why you'll see people say they ran something for 200 levels and didn't find anything. They were just running the boss fights, mostly, or had the worst luck. You really have to go all over the caves. That's the best advice I can give anyone.
@Carrigon
Does this apply to the high level weapons and the like? For example, I know that Uruz Dagger drops in USH, but in all of the many runs I've had there I've only had it drop from the Devil fights. I generally will fight everyone, but they're the only ones I've seen that dagger from (and I've gotten several). Are there any options out there for the chance that a boss would drop a good weapon is higher or anything like that?
I got an Uruz from a bounty box. But as far as higher level caves being more specific in the drops, I would say, it seems that way. I've mostly heard of the drops being off a certain fight or being in a certain bone pile or chest, way more so than lower to mid level caves. Like FD would be more mid level, and I have heard of drops being pretty much anywhere except the first area, which is usually empty of anything major. But a cave like HC, which would be higher level, it always sounds very specific of what drops where. Or GH, too.
