Any ETA on the name change service?

I hope not. Scammers would love this.

No ETA at the moment. It's still something we are aiming to get.

Can we either do a name change AND a trade window or neither? I personally like that the higher level scammers are known and cannot change their name. If names are no longer attached permanently to a toon life would be easier if we had a trade window!

There's many of us that joined the server at first launch. Personally, I was a bit rushed to jump into the fray and chose pretty lame names for my alts. Along the way, I've held a couple names that I'd love to give to an alt or two. There was a fair bit of discussion about name changes early on and some were concerned about the scamming aspect. That is why I believe RL set the proposed Sovereign price high at 2400, to discourage frivolous name changing of scammers. In addition, many of the scammers aren't new names that have popped up. They are the same names month after month even though the scammers can make new characters and extra accounts for free. Furthermore, lvl 1 characters can wear cosmetics and prestige baldrics, yet we don't see many new scammers and only the same names popping up over and over. This tells me that the scammers are likely not going to use this service with the aim to scam because: 1) the price is high, and 2) they already can dress up free new characters yet they don't. The good outweighs the bad here in my opinion, as my scrubs could benefit from the name or two I have held since June/July.

Name changes are good. I know I've made toon names that I thought were cute/funny before only to regret it after 700 levels.

Anonymous name changes in a game that trumpets "community" anytime something like trade windows is brought up doesn't make sense to me.

It's an easy solution and nothing new. Log name changes on the website. Everquest did this for several years when they first launched their name change service.

Is this going to be an option in the near future? I noticed its no longer on the website.

I don’t know about that, it seems most scammers are proud of what they do.
