I really don't understand the point of these characters. They are almost unkillable. They jump low level characters and you just lose gold. Furthermore why is a Beserker in the Desert? Shouldn't they be in ice and mountain areas? Help me understand.
I agree. It’s already very tedious to level an AIEW with low endurance, then To just get killed and lose gold is even more frustrating. Can anyone even kill these guys anyways? I’m not saying to rid them, but to remove the jump would be most helpful to low level toons trying to grind.
If you enter AD/ADD/Barrens below the target level, what should be the consequence?
-Up the Jump rate for other creatures and reduce starting flee chance to 50%?
I've posted before on here, probably more than once, that I'd love to see level appropriate ambushes replace random mobs jumping. In all mid-high level zones, not just desert.
Those ambushes could be made challenging, interesting and rewarding instead of "Flee to Kilrog" and "Die to Zerker"
The rewarding part would kinda be based on another idea I've posted about which is level capping zones. Otherwise 1ks would just farm Killing Fields, etc, for ambushes.

Berserker was put in around the same time as HoZ, at the time with HoZ you could counter zerkers, not since the current jacked up version of hoz has been implemented though.
