I remember getting a free 30 day trial from it being I think on the back of another PC game I had picked up back in the mid 90's….Those were the good ol' days!! I just signed back up today for my 3rd time. Can't wait to get home from work and give it another shot. Sucks I gotta start over from scratch not being able to have my 1k characters back! lol

Read an article about it in Sierra's monthly gaming magazine back in the 90's. Might have saved my poor 486 so many senseless beatings if I'd also read an article about Digital Subscriber Lines and never heard about Earthlink. =P

haha. I remember one time unknowingly using a long distance number to connect online and playing non-stop for like a whole weekend and ran up quite the bill. My brother and I both did. lol

My memory is so fuzzy but that sounds like how I started to play. Some how I still ended up with a Realm disc though. Might have picked it up second hand cause the account info is blacked out.

Sam (Staff)

A friend of mines mom was super into it, they started playing it and got me into it. Was amazing back in then - to live a virtual life.

As a kid growing up in South America, I'd keep running into adverts for the Realm in computer game magazines (brought over from the U.S.)- and I remember lamenting I simply didn't have the opportunity to play the game due to several reasons: PC equipment, lack of a reliable internet connection, etc. Both The Realm and Meridian 59 were the two games I always wished I could have played.

Of course, only recently did I find out that both of them are around. Crazy, isn't it?

What is Meridian 59? Similar to The Realm? That's cool though you found out Realm was still around. How did that happen?

Hornsbuck

My brother was buddies with staff, we got in during beta.
He has actually helped with graphics on multiple games.

I got my CD out of a cereal box I think it was fruit loops there were only 2 towns and 1 cave that only respawned when the server went down.

I was playing a game called ARC back in 1996 with an online friend, and he gave me his 2nd Realm account, I made a lil elf (Kachina) and we stood around 1S EL watching Janus roll Head of Death and Zinje "wiggle his ears" all day. I have so many old screenshots from back then! I was in Ohana, and followed many of them to Everquest in 1999. But, I'm baaaaack!

NeoDraco

I was playing Subspace, someone was talking about TRO
